How much does VirtualLab cost? VirtualLab is priced per 'session'. Specify only the amount of data you want to purchase. Sessions are valid for 48 hours, plenty of time for you to recover your data. There is a cost for the initial gig of data plus an additional per gig price. For pricing, visit the product detail page for your operating system: Windows or Macintosh

Will VirtualLab recover my data? Probably! We like to think VirtualLab offers the most advanced data recovery software solution on the market today. It will rescue data from hard drives and other devices with just about any non-physical problem. VirtualLab is 100% free to try, and will show you the found data before you pay a penny. Download VirtualLab for Windows or Macintosh.

Will VirtualLab fix corrupted data? No. VirtualLab is purely a data recovery product. If the files are corrupted on your drive, they will still be corrupted when recovered. On the Windows version of VirtualLab, it is recommended to utilitze the text and picture previews to see your data prior to purchasing a session. (This functionality in the Mac version is coming soon.) If you are recovering deleted or erased data, and the computer has been in use since this happened, it is more likely that you will encounter corrupted data because part of the file may have been overwritten. For help repairing corrupted files, try contacting the software manufacturer that the corrupted file is supposed to work with.

How long does it take to recover files? An average VirtualLab session takes less than an hour. The actual time is determined on how fast your computer (CPU) is, the size of the drive being recovered and the amount of files you are recovering. VirtualLab should take less than an hour to search your disk for files. If the time takes longer than this, then you should stop the scan and contact support. Your drive may be physically bad, thus resulting in the lengthy scan and possible drive damage. VirtualLab will not recover a physically damaged drive (e.g.: making noises or burned chips on the drive). In the case of physical damage, our in-lab recovery group specializes in all types of data loss. Visit our in-lab data recovery section for a free estimate.

Can my files be seen by anyone but me? No. The VirtualLab Client (you) connects to our powerful recovery server. File system details are transferred to the server using very high encryption. VirtualLab processes the problem and tells your client software what needs to be done to recover the data. By using this technique, you are ensured the most advanced and latest recovery routines in a completely safe environment. When ordering a session, the recovered files are saved to a location that you specify (such a secondary drive, or networked volume). Your actual data files are never sent anywhere over the internet. Your file system information is disgarded on the VirtualLab server once the session ends. Just by the large number of sessions being processed on a typical day, the storage requirements to store your files on our server would not be possible, not to mention the time to transfer a typical hard drive's contents would take many hours, if not days, even on a high speed connection.

Can my information be intercepted? All packets transferred between the VirtualLab Client and the Server are encrypted with strong proprietary encryption (128-bit and higher). Only file system information about the device being recovered is sent. None of your files are stored on the VirtualLab server.

How does VirtualLab work? The VirtualLab software you download connects over the internet to our advanced VirtualLab server. The server is continuously updated (usually daily) to allow the most advanced recovery algorithms. When you order a session, it is created and valid for 48 hours, plenty of time for you to recover your data to another device. Your session is created based on how much data you choose to have recovered. So, if you have a 4gig session, then you can recover as many files up to your 4gig quota. You can reconnect as many times and recover as many files as you want until your quota is met or the time is expired. If you need more time or quota you can order more up to 4 days after the original order date and your time will be extended for another 48 hours. Contact support for additional information if necessary.

Who can I talk to about VirtualLab? The fastest way to get help is to contact support with the details of your problem. What if I can't connect? Always make sure you are running the latest VirtualLab client, it may have been updated recently. The internet relys on many computers, and there maybe a problem with the connection somewhere in between. Wait a few minutes and try again. Make sure you are able to visit other places on the internet like google.com (and our website). Make sure you are connected to the internet while running and using VirtualLab. If you are behind a proxy or firewall, you may need to use the advanced network settings in the client to connect... see your network administrator for assistance in these settings. If all else fails, try restarting your machine to ensure the IP of the VirtualLab Server hasn't changed recently, your computer may have cached the DNS entry. If you are still not able to connect after these steps, contact the VirtualLab support team and we'll be glad to help!
